Maureen Sroufe

I have been in a licensed veterinary technician since 1997 and have been working at Virginia Tech Veterinary Teaching Hospital since 1998. I earned my veterinary technician specialty in neurology in 2006 as a charter member of the Academy of Internal Medicine for Veterinary Technicians. I have embarked on a new endeavor to complete my bachelor's degree in leadership with a minor in training and development.

I have a passion for mentoring and training new and current professionals. and I am earning my bachelor’s degree to help promote continued learning in a leadership role. I demonstrate leadership by actively participating in teaching labs for veterinary students, on the job training with students and residents, and working with subject matter experts to create continuing education lectures for state and national conferences. I possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills while working to coordinate procedures with multiple departments in the Teaching Hospital at VM-CVM. I have a proven ability to work independently and as part of a team as the lead technician for the Neurology Department at VM-CVM and deal with an ever-changing environment while bringing calm to the chaos of a busy veterinary hospital and emergency department.
